Examining a Potential Health Insurance Plan

I have once again begun the quest to find affordable health insurance. This time, I am seeking a health plan that will cover only me. My husband has Medicare Part A, and will have Part B soon. We have no children. I am taking a close look a policy that appears to be one I can afford. Earlier this week, I used HealthCare.gov to try and find an affordable health insurance plan. You can use that website to narrow down a whole bunch of health insurance plans, in order to find one that you can, (hopefully), afford. To be honest, … Continue reading

Insurance Blog Week in Review – Week of February 26 – March 3, 2012

This week, there were a couple of extra blogs that appeared on the Insurance Blog. Maybe you didn’t have the time to read over all of the blogs that caught your attention. The Insurance Blog Week in Review is a good way to “ketchup” on whatever you missed. Prime Healthcare Services Investigated for Controversial Billing The hospital chain is under investigation because they are accused of submitting false claims to Medicare and Medi-Cal, of “upbilling”, and of not releasing stabilized patients to hospitals that are within the patient’s health insurance network. The Insurance Podcast Roundup went up on February 27, … Continue reading

Giving it Another Try – With Health Insurance

My quest to find affordable health insurance coverage continues. I’ve lost count of how many times I have attempted, and failed, this particular quest. My hope is that the research I did today will actually result in a quality, affordable, health insurance plan this time. If not…. perhaps I’ll move to Canada. Last year, my husband and I tried to find health insurance coverage. We thought we’d found it, but it turned out that the plan we purchased wasn’t what we were led to believe it would be. At the time, we were looking for a health insurance plan that … Continue reading

What Does Maternity Insurance Cover?

Does your health insurance plan cover maternity? Most of them will not, unless you specifically purchase that extra form of insurance. Without it, many families find themselves paying for those expenses out of pocket after their baby is born in the hospital. Common sense would tell you that pregnancy, and childbirth, are natural functions of the human body. One would assume that the medical expenses that go along with prenatal care, postnatal care, and giving birth at a hospital would be covered by a typical health insurance policy. Most people would consider a pregnancy to be a blessing, and realize … Continue reading

Does Your Filing System Really Work?

I’ve always been proud of how organized I am, you might even say I’ve been cocky about it. Paperwork comes into my house and it is immediately filed, most of the time. I brag that I can lay my hands on anything you want in under five minutes. I really thought my filing system was working. Probably because other than tax paperwork I haven’t needed anything in my filing cabinet in a while. I have a system, a good system that made sense to me, other people might not understand it but I thought I did. Until Hailey’s accident and … Continue reading

Reasons to be Kind to Retail Workers on Black Friday

People who work in retail, as sales clerks, have one of the most stressful, least appreciated, lowest paid jobs that exist in the United States today. Those of you who choose to do your shopping on Black Friday need to remember to be kind to the sales clerks. There are plenty of good reasons to treat them well. This is the time of year when retailers hire some extra part-time workers. According to the National Retail Federation, retail stores have hired about 500,000 seasonal employees this year. Most of them are part-time workers, who are hoping to somehow transition into … Continue reading

Hospital Offers Discount For People Who Pay Promptly

A hospital in California is offering a discount on the medical bills of people who pay the bill promptly. This offer is good for people who have insurance from companies that quickly pay the hospital what it is owed, as well as for people who pay their medical bills on their own. This says quite a bit about the delay that insurance companies impose on hospitals whom they owe money to. Health care is expensive. This, in turn, makes health insurance expensive. The main reason why people buy health insurance is because they want to receive some financial assistance with … Continue reading

My Journey Continued When I Married an Adopted Boy

Continued from, When Uncle Eddie Took Care of His Birth Mother. Makala, it seems like my whole life has been all about becoming your mommy–and Jeremiah’s mommy too. I have learned so many things along the way that have made me a strong mother, who is willing to learn what I need to help you grow up and become the mommy you hope to be. With Uncle Eddie, and all the children I knew in my life I learned a lot about being adopted. Not that anyone who wasn’t adopted could ever understand everything. When I was just 18-years old … Continue reading

How I Became Your Mother: When Uncle Eddie Took Care of His Birth Mother.

Continued: From The Journey of How I Became Your Mother: Thanksgiving and LeRoy’s Boys. When I was 13-years-old Uncle Eddie announced that his birth mother was sick and needed someone to take care of her. The mother he had not lived with since he was only 4-years-old, had found her son and asked for a place to stay. The picture here was taken the day she flew in from Illinois. This is my grandmother, Aunt Terrie, Uncle Eddies birth mother with the white hair, and my parents–Uncle Eddie took this picture. Not very many years ago most adopted kids never … Continue reading
